Microsoft Starting In-Store Tournament League

If you live near a Microsoft Store and find yourself constantly visiting to fiddle with a Surface that you are on the fence about buying, Microsoft is giving you something all-new to do when you stop by.

According to the Microsoft Store's official newsletter, the shops will be hosting their own "Gaming Leagues," which will consist of a series of free game tournaments. Whether you are a fighter or a soccer pro, you can stop by your local Microsoft Store for the next eight Saturdays starting June 1st to see if you're truly the best in your area.

Featured games vary by location, but you can look forward to playing titles such as Injustice: Gods Among Us, NBA 2K13, Call of Duty: Black Ops II, and FIFA 13 at your local store. The prizes aren't specified by Microsoft, but the free entry should be more than enough to encourage competitors to come out and see how they stack up to their local gamers. If you're worried about not being able to make every date of the "League," fret not--Each event is a stand-alone tournament with its own prize.

Since their inception in 2009, Microsoft Stores have provided the same type of hands-on interactivity as the Apple store, though Microsoft has one thing that Apple doesn't (yet): A gaming console. This allows the store to double as a game retailer and serve as a venue for these new sets of tournaments.

Think you're the best Injustice or Call of Duty player in town? Check out the Microsoft Store's official website and find out where the competition is.
