Overwatch newest character, Sombra is an offense hero. Sombra has a similar combat style to Tracer. It's important to note that her damage output is lower by comparison and she functions much better as a disruptor and an opportunistic assassin.
Sombra's disruption strength is in her hack ability. It allows Sombra to either cancel enemy hero abilities or usually interfere with Health Packs scattered around every map in "Overwatch." Hacking a Health Pack will not allow other teams to use them and it also drastically increases the pack's recharge time.
Sombra's offensive skills possess mobility-enhancing capabilities. It allows her to get into a preferred combat position using invisibility or lets her teleport to somewhere else on the map. Sombra's flexibility and agility come at a cost, with relatively low DPS and a wide, unwieldy spray of fire. Reddit user icominblob shared with Metabomb various tips and observations. These will be helpful for players that want to go pro with Sombra.
Sombra can see enemies through walls when they reach 50 percent below health with her Passive Ability Opportunistic skill. She has 200 health. Sombra's SMG has a magazine size of 60. The SMG spread maxes out very quickly, then stays the same for the duration of her spray. While she is invisible, Turrets cannot target Sombra. When Mercy is healing an invisible Sombra, it shows the beam to Mercy, but not the enemy.
Her teleporter stays up for 15 seconds before it disappears. Sombra's teleporter beacon can't be destroyed by the enemy. Players can still teleport to the teleporter beacon even if they are hacked by an enemy Sombra or even if their teleporter has already been thrown.
Sombra's hack range is 9-10 meter which takes between 0.5 and 1 second to activate. When Sombra takes a damage, it cancels the hack. Hacking an enemy allows the player to see their health bar and ultimate status and, the ability cancel lasts 6 seconds. However, your ability to see their health/Ult status stays for 20-30 seconds. This applies to her Ult, too. Sombra can't hack through barriers or shields, except if she will hack the character from the back of the shield.
Lucio will stop switching songs when hacked by Sombra, but will not actually stop the song itself. Hacking a character who has been Nano-Boosted will not stop the Nano-Boost, but players will not be able to use their abilities.
When a Health Pack is hacked, it will recharge at 3x slower than the regular speed for the duration of the hack. Players can see a purple Sombra skull hovering above it. The skull is the timer, slowly decreasing to show players how much time is left on the hack. Health Packs stay hacked for 60 seconds, but when hacked slightly before the hack disappears at below 20 percent, the hack countdown refreshes.
Players cannot hack Health Packs during setup. Enemies can see which Health Packs have been hacked, as well as the Sombra purple timer skull meter above it. Players can hack multiple Health Packs at the same time. Players cannot hack a Health Pack that has already been hacked by an enemy Sombra.
The Ult of Sombra utilizes a line of sight, not pure range and destroys not only physical but also shields showing in the health bar. It's a direct counter to Lucio's Ult, and other health bar shields. This would really damage Zenyatta or Zarya, as the majority of their health consists of shields.
The ability of Sombra to teleport feels a lot like Tracer's but it's not identical. It lasts a lot longer than Tracer's. Players should make sure to use everything and not just a spray before reloading.
Sombra is useful in sneaking into the back lines. First players should place their teleporter on a Health Pack and try to get as many kills as they can during the 15-second teleporter uptime. Players can then teleport back to the health pack as soon as they are in critical danger. This technique can safely secure 1, 2 or even more kills without the risk of dying.
Sombra is strong against Torbjorn, Reinhardt and Zarya. Shields and turrets obviously are magnets for Sombra. Sombra's Ult can really be damaging for Lucio, Reaper and Pharah when it comes to casting off their own Ults.
Sombra is weak against Junkrat, Winston and Widowmaker. Besides Invisibility issues, Widowmaker's sniper abilities could make a comeback to pick off a Sombra. Winston always likes to take down flankers. Roadhog could be quite strong here if he can pull Sombra away from the action and then pull off his deadly combo. Junkrat can drop a trap and a mine on Sombra's Translocator.
These information are likely to change in the coming days and weeks. Players will soon discover more about Sombra and her abilities. Check out this video for more tips:
