MacBook Pro Release Date, News & Update: Thunderbolt 3 Dock Is The Answer To Lack Of Ports? Too Expensive Says Fans?

While the brand new MacBook Pro flaunts an elegant design, the lack of standard ports is totally a downside to most Apple fans. However, OWC offers a Thunderbolt 3 dock that could possibly be of great help for those in need. But this could also be too much for what most users really need.

A lot of brands are expected to come up with solutions to the lack of legacy ports in the new Pro. However, the two primary options to choose from include a dock that may offer a number of ports or adaptors only for the devices being used. Though the two might get the job done, both are still considered to be a compromise to having a sleek device.

According to MacSales, OWC has announced its new Thunderbolt 3 Dock. It offers a total of 13 ports and is well-engineered to be used with the new MacBook Pro. It features a Gigabit Ethernet, five USB 3.1, SD card reader slot, two Thunderbolt 3 ports, mini display, FireWire 800, as well as analog and digital audio. For those who are in need of a lot of adaptors, this is certainly a great solution.

Unfortunately, the Thunderbolt 3 Dock is expensive and is only available for pre-order as reported by B&H. This device designed for the MacBook Pro will be shipped in February 2017 for $279. Now the question is, would Apple users consider carrying an expensive device and keep it always connected to the Pro?

Meanwhile, MacBooks are still being highly praised by many as they are considered as over-engineered consumer laptops that offer great performance. MacBook Pro 13-inch with Intel Core i5 processors and 8GB of memory is available in three variants and are priced according to their specs and features.

MacBook Pro 15-inch with Core i7 processor and 16GB of memory, on the other hand, is apparently way more expensive. The cheapest new Pro prices may start at £725 and can go up to £1,200. Watch video: USB-C/Thunderbolt 3, I'm here...for you.
