The all new MacBook Pro 2016 and Microsoft Surface Pro are probably two of the most popular laptops this year. Each machine represents the best the Apple and Microsoft have to offer, most especially when it comes to hardware. However, based on some independent tests, the device from Apple is better than the Surface Book with regard to graphics.
According to Gizmodo, the brand new MacBook Pro 2016 reigns supreme when it comes to a mobile workhorse. The Microsoft Surface Pro, on the other hand, is better when it comes to professional tasks. Apple has been very thorough than Microsoft with regard to the choice of internal components just like GPUs. The Pro's AMD GPU beats the Nvidia card of the Microsoft Surface Pro in non-gaming tests.
Based on the same report, the MacBook Pro 2016 sports an AMD Radeon Pro 450 with 2GB of RAM while the Microsoft's device features an Nvidia 965M with 2GB of RAM. The video card of the Pro, however, is specifically designed to improve speeds when rendering objects in 3D in CAD software.
Moreover, Ars Technica also reported that the new 15-inch Pro models will be having discrete graphics cards, which is a first for the tech giant company. Normally, only higher-end 15-inch units would ship with discrete GPUs.
Meanwhile, Apple has successfully managed to revamp the all new MacBook Pro 2016 with its thinner and lighter design and much more powerful performance. Apple has added the Touch Bar, which is an OLED screen strip with integrated Touch ID fingerprint sensor that replaces standard the F-keys.
Ports-wise, the brand new MacBook Pro 2016 offers four Thunderbolt 3 ports but it does not have SD card, USB, and HDMI sockets. It comes in two sizes, 13-inch and 15-inch and now available in silver and grey colors. The Touch Bar is a standard feature found on the 15-inch but only available on higher-end spec 13-inch units.
