Alfa Romeo builds the new Stelvio, Giulia sedan-based SUV. It is the third current model for the US market. Alfa Romeo's 2018 Stelvio will carry the brand's signature style and driving dynamics.
Alfa Romeo 2018 Stelvio has the same engine as Alfa Romeo's Giulia sedan. The standard Stelvio and Stelvio Ti models have turbocharged 2.0 liter four cylinder, 280 horsepower and 306 lb-ft of torque.
Alfa Romeo will also bring the Stelvio Quarifolgio model. It has the same twin-turbocharged 2.9-liter V6 as their Giulia Quadrifolgio. The 2018 Stelvio Quarifolgio pumps 505 horsepower and has 443 lb-ft of torque. Alfa Romeo claims that the 2018 Stelvio Quarifolgio goes from 0-60 mph in just 3.9 seconds, just a tenth behind the Giulia model.
Alfa Romeo's 2018 Stelvio sends power through an 8-speed automatic transmission connected to Alfa's Q4 all-wheel-drive system and a mechanical limited-slip rear differentia, regardless of the model. The Stelvio Quarifolgio has an additional a torque-vectoring rear differential.
All of Alfa Romeo's 2018 Stelvio has an aluminum-intensive chassis that is being propelled by the drivetrain. The doors, fenders, front and rear frame assemblies, and various suspension parts consist of the lightweight metal. This gives a 50/50 front and rear weight distribution. All the way around, the suspension is independent. The Alfa Romeo 2018 Stelvio Quarifolgio has a sportier and more adaptive version
In terms of Style, Alfa Romeo's 2018 Stelvio is at par with the Giulia model, almost looking like a taller, wagon version of Giulia. The front is almost the same, except for a taller middle grill and a slightly more swept back lower sides and a less rake slope of the nose. The defined lines along the flanks and bumper are very similar to Alpha Romeo's Giulia Quadrifolgio. Alfa Romeo gave the 2018 Stelvios a sloping hatch on the tail end which results to a bulky backside.
The insides of the Alfa Romeo 2018 Stelvio is reminiscent of Giulia, except the top of the dash rises above the middle screen and slopes down to the right vent. All Alfa Romeo 2018 Stelvio model features a 7-inch screen attached between tach and speedometer In the Alfa Romeo 2018 Stelvio Quadrifolgio the speedometer reads up to 200mph.
Standard Alfa Romeo 2018 Stelvio get a 6.5-inch display. The Alfa Romeo Stelvio Ti and Alfa Romeo Quadrifoglio gets 8.8-inch units. All Alfa Romeo 2018 Stelvio have leather seating, with Quadrifolgio getting additional Spardo seats with carbon fiber shells.
The Alfa Romeo 2018 Stelvio Quadrifolgio with all its amazing engine specs could reach race-track level performance with claims of reaching 0-60mph in 3,9 seconds. But will its SUV body allow it to keep up with a Ferrari? Test drives may not be until summer of 2017 and only then will the claims be tested.
