The CW network just announced the release date of the upcoming American teen drama which is based on characters from Archie's comics entitled "Riverdale" alongside other CW shows for their season premieres. "Riverdale" will premiere on January 26, Thursday, taking the place of "The Legends of Tomorrow" time slot.
Greg Berlanti who produced some of CW's successful show like "Supergirl" and "Arrow" will also serve as the executive producer of "Riverdale" according to Entertainment Weekly. K.J. Apa will play the iconic character of Archie Andrews while Disney alum, Cole Sprouse will play Jughead Jones, Archie's former best friend.
Other cast members of "Riverdale" includes Camilla Medes as Veronica Lodge, Lili Reinheart as Betty Cooper and Madeleine Petshe as Cheyrl Blossom. Riverdale will have 12 episodes in season one and was shot in Vancouver, Canada.
Another show from the CW Network to set its premiere is the post-apocalyptic sci-fi series drama "The 100". "The 100" season 4 will air on Wednesday, February 1, and will continue after Clark Griffin (Eliza Taylor) defeated the artificial intelligence threat A.L.I.E., but soon discovers that the earth is still in danger.
Aside from "Riverdale" and "The 100", the "iZombie" premiere date was also announced. "iZombie" season 3 will premiere on April 4 with back-to-back episodes. "The Originals" season 4 will air on Friday, March 17, a week after the series finale of "The Vampire Diaries" season 7.
Since the series premiere of "Riverdale" will occupy the Thursday slot, "Legends of Tomorrow" will return with a new timeslot in their mid-season premiere which will be in January 24, Tuesday, right before "The Flash".
The new time slot of "Legends of Tomorrow" might bring more viewers since "The Flash" has been very consistent in giving out high ratings since its season 3 premiere. CW has ordered 4 more episodes for DC's "Legends of Tomorrow".
