Devil May Cry Developer Bringing Fightback to Smart Phones

UK-based developers Ninja Theory are no strangers to the action genre. In fact, they've built their name on crafting smooth, engaging combat adventures across a variety of platforms. If you're currently on your third playthrough of January's Devil May Cry and still have fond memories of beating up baddies in Enslaved, Ninja Theory's upcoming mobile offering will alllow you to experience their patented action formula on the go.

According to an official statement,, Ninja Theory will be teaming up with mobile mega-publisher Chillingo for Fightback, an all-new action title slated for both Android and iOS devices. The game is a straight-forward beat-em-up that's heavily inspired by classic 80s action movies. Like Infinity Blade and Avengers Initiative before it, Fightback will feature its own brand of touch-based combat for action addicts. The game will launch free-to-play, so in-game consumables are all but guaranteed.

"Mobile and tablet gaming is a phenomenon that we just couldn't ignore as a studio and we're very proud to be working with one of the industry's heavy-weights on bringing Fightback to market," says Dominic Matthews, Product Manager at Ninja Theory.

Ninja Theory has excelled at creating games that boast equal parts playability and personality, so they should do just fine crafting a cheeky 80s actioner for mobile phones. Characters such as Enslaved's Monkey and Devil May Cry's Dante are widely loved by the gaming community, so here's to hoping Ninja Theory can conjure up the perfect Bruce Willis/Mel Gibson hybrid for Fightback. The new title will join Chillingo's expansive roster of popular mobile games, which range from Cut the Rope to Catapult King.

Fightback will make its way to E3, so expect plenty more news on this pocket-sized brawler once people can get their hands on it. Are you excited to try out Ninja Theory's latest offering?
