Jaguar I-Pace Electric Car News & Update: British Manufacturer Unveils Battery-Powered Luxury SUV!

Jaguar plans to produce its own electric car and release it by the second half of 2018. The Jaguar I-Pace concept car will be the direct competitor of Tesla's Model X SUV.

The luxury vehicle brand, Jaguar has revealed its concept SUV electric car that targets to compete on Tesla's SUV in 2018. Tata Motors named their concept SUV model Jaguar I-Pace, which has a sophisticated design for its futuristic approach for electronic vehicle market.

Jaguar I-Pace electric car has been introduced at the Los Angeles Auto Show but was merely a concept. According to Dezeen, Jaguar said that the concept design will be the same like its original when it started its production in 2017.

The design of Jaguar I-Pace electric car would be based on its another model F-Pace SUV line except that the I-Pace is a battery-powered vehicle. The company brags that the automobile can travel 310 miles or 500 kilometres on a single charge. Also, Jaguar claims that I-Pace can accelerate from 0-62 miles per hour in just four seconds.

According to Engadget, Jaguar I-Pace is its first five-seater electric sports car which delivers a combined horsepower and 516 pounds of torque in front and rear axle motors. The custom-designed battery will be packed with 90kWh lithium-ion placed under the passenger compartment. Charging the battery can only take more than just two hours to get 100 percent power and the average car user only need to do this once a week.

The interior design of Jaguar I-Pace electric car is designed as like what Jaguar does with its luxury vehicles. Ian Callum, Jaguar's director of design, said that they have used premium materials with the SUV's interior "from the expansive panoramic glass roof to the sporting, beautifully finished seats and every feature bears the hallmark of British craftsmanship."

Meanwhile, other car brands like BMW, Mercedez-Benz and Volkswagen have first introduced its own concept of battery-powered cars. However, some analysts say with the British company offering Jaguar I-Pace electric car concept is more realistic than the others. If the timetable of Jaguar will be followed, Jaguar I-Pace electric car will be the first all-electric non-Tesla luxury SUVs on the market.
