OnePlus 3T Release Date, News & Update: Why 8GB RAM Is Not Good News? Other Specs Similar To Predecessor

OnePlus has finally announced the release date of the OnePlus 3T. The company is due to release the latest flagship phone on Nov.15. Prior to that, Qualcomm also mentioned that the device will be equipped with its newest Snapdragon 821 chip.

A lot of fans cannot wait to get their hands on the 3T mainly because of its powerful specs. However, it is rumored that it will have 8GB of RAM instead of 6GB, which is quite massive for a phone. If the rumor is true, then it will be the very first smartphone to have an 8GB of RAM on board, Pocket Lint reported.

While the 8GB RAM of OnePlus 3T may sound impressive, the question is, is it really necessary? At the current trend of technology, nobody really needs such massive memory, most especially on a smartphone. Majority of the applications also do not require a lot of memory in order to run smoothly. Even the Google Pixel with 2K display does not need over 2GB of RAM to execute VR.

Though having a huge space of memory on a smartphone may sound really attractive, it is still considered as impractical. Normally, less than 50 percent of memory is used by the phone. Therefore, the remaining unused memory will only continue to consume the battery of the phone without even getting used.

Meanwhile, aside from the processor of the OnePlus 3T, several of its other specs are speculated to be similar to its predecessor. Also, if you compare it with the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, the 3T is much slimmer but the Edge is smaller and lighter.

More so, the OnePlus 3T is also rumored to have a solid aluminum build, just like its brother, OnePlus 3. If the rumors are true, fans can expect a front fingerprint sensor, and a USB Type C slot. Watch video about Oneplus 3T Rumors, Release Date and Everything you need to know
