While Tuesday's Xbox Reveal broadast focused heavily on the overall entertainment features of the brand-new Xbox One, Microsoft wasn't content to let viewers go without at least providing a small glimpse of what their next generation of games will look like. Between Forza 5 and Quantum Break, eager Xbox enthusiasts have a small taste of gameplay to chew on until the system's software lineup is completely blown open for E3.
We speculated about Forza 5 earlier, and its no surprise that Microsoft is shifting their beloved racing franchise into the gear of next-gen. A short teaser of the title was provided, revealing slick gameplay of the McLaren P1 going toe-to-toe with its classic counterpart in the McLaren F1, as pointed out by Jalopnik. Forza 5 will be available on the Xbox One's still-unknown launch date.
The other Microsoft-published title revealed during the event came as a bit more of a surprise. Developed by Max Payne creators Remedy Entertainment, Quantum Break is a hybrid title that sets out to combine TV and gaming in unprecedented fashion. The short teaser shows a real-life clip of a mother and daughter, before cutting to footage of mysteriously unrelated gameplay.
"How you play the game impacts the show, and the show informs how you play the game," said Phil Spencer, Head of Microsoft Studios.
Details are still scarce on Quantum Break, but that will likely change once E3 rolls around in early June. WIth a revered developer behind it, hopefully the title can live up to the beloved Remedy games that came before it.
How do you feel about these first two Microsoft Studios games for Xbox One? Are you excited yet, or will it take more titles to make up your mind?
