The 4K resolution and high dynamic range (HDR) colored TVs are the two strong point display technologies of PS4 Pro. However, some people have been complaining about the new PlayStation 4 Pro not working properly with their 4K TV and it seems that the latest system software of PS4 Pro is responsible for it.
PS4 Pro system software version 4.0 has been updated to v4.05 in late October but sadly, the updated firmware seemed to be misguided. People took their protests on Reddit and some users tried solutions that could help others to put it back into working order as well.
Reddit user Bravo514 wrote: "Plugged my Pro in and it booted up in beautiful 2160p. Then it asked me to update to 4.05. After update - no signal. I thought my Pro was fried."
"Just leaving the Pro in 1080p on the 4K/60hz input causes the TV to go blank for a few seconds every ten minutes," Redditor biostang also wrote. Another user also complained about getting a black screen and the audio cuts out every few seconds.
According to Polygon, these users own LG, Hisense and Vizio TVs as well as the older units although other TV models don't appear to have issues with the PS4 Pro v4.05 firmware. Reddit user Bravo514 have tried several steps to patch things up with Vizio's D-Series and M-Series TVs 2015 models.
The following steps could help fix the issue of PS4 Pro with 4K TV: Make sure the PS4 Pro is turned off then plug the HDMI into the 4K 60hz port on the TV. Turn the TV on and hold down the power button on the PS4 Pro until it beeps twice which means it's on a safe mode. Then change HDCP setting to 1.4 only and PS4 shall restart still without signal.
After that, turn the PS4 off and get back to Safe Mode then choose change resolution which will restart the PS4 Pro. Once an image appears after the PS4 Pro restarts, choose the yuv420 option. However, if there is still no signal right after the PS4 Pro restarts, go back to safe mode and to HDCP and choose automatic. Then go back to safe mode again and choose change resolution and then choose yuv420.
The issue appears to be the digital copy protection which is built into the HDMI connection between the PS4 Pro and the TV. Reddit user Bravo514 suggested to try the steps a couple more times in the instance that it's still unsuccessful.
