A few months ago, Sony unveiled the future of PlayStation. Developers and publishers took to the stage to discuss their plans for which franchises, old and new, would be making their way to the new console, and Sony made sure to extrapolate on the technical capabilties of the PlayStation 4. Of course, there was one major complaint: we didn't get to see the actual system itself.
In order to continue torturing gamers up until E3, Sony has released a (blurry) video showing bits and pieces of the black box that will debut during Sony's E3 press conference on June 10 at 6 p.m. PDT. Although the video strategically avoids revealing any features of the console, such as USB ports, buttons, or other paraphernalia, the shape and general look of the console make it seem like it will remain basically the same as the redesigned PS3.
Astute gamers might realize that this video was conveniently released the day before Microsoft's Xbox Reveal, a typical move in a very competitive industry during a make-or-break season of a new generation of consoles. We have already covered what we think Microsoft might have in store on May 21, but Sony wants to keep some of the attention on the PS4 as gamers naturally shift their interest to the next big reveal.
If you are interested in staying up to date on Sony next's console, you can RSVP to watch the unveil on a Facebook page Sony has set up for the event.
