Several Japanese players are happy after Niantic announced in its official "Pokemon GO" Japan Twitter account that the Lapras event in Tohoku Region already started. Players that are in the Tohoku Region will get a higher chance to catch the rare Pokemon Lapras.
According to a report from "Pokemon GO" Hub, the Lapras Pokemon will appear more than usual on the coastlines of Iwate Prefecture, Miyagi Prefecture, and Fukushima Prefecture. These were the said areas that was heavily affected by the tsunami last 2011.
Reports say that the Lapras event's main purpose is to encourage more people to take a stroll and enjoy a trip to Tohoku Region while playing "Pokemon GO." Niantic is now referring to some "Pokemon GO" events as phenomena's that is similar to some Ingress anomalies. The Lapras event will continue until November 23.
For now, Niantic hasn't officially announced if there will be another event just like what is happening now in Tohoku Region. Avid "Pokemon GO" players are hoping that Niantic expands events like this worldwide.
Some rumors claim that Niantic will add similar events to "Pokemon GO" for some of the selected areas that also been struck with great catastrophes. But, several fans are disappointed, because for them it is a bit unfair. A lot of players got rare Pokemons through hard work but players in the Tohoku Region got them easily. Players suggest that if ever there will be another event like this in "Pokemon GO," Niantic should make it available worldwide.
However, some rumors suggest that Niantic will add new sets of Pokemons in "Pokemon GO." The new additions is said to be the Gen 2 Pokemons. The rumors started after some data miners found a code at the recent update that contains other Pokemon names. Some fans say that Niantic will add the Gen 2 Pokemons in "Pokemon GO" along with the most requested features like the PvP, Trading and accurate tracker.
