The anime adaptation of “One Piece” is rumored to be about to be cancelled. But, fans quickly dismiss the rumor as merely that given that the animated series together with the manga from which it is based on still enjoy tremendous popularity. The anime creators also have not issued any confirmation regarding the alleged cancellation.
Although the “One Piece” is more than likely not happening, there is a bigger possibility that the anime might be put on hold for a while. The reason being that the latest installment, episode 763 titled “The Truth Behind the Disappearance! Sanji Gets a Startling Invitation!”, already covers chapter 813 of the manga with the last one being chapter 845.
Given that the “One Piece” animated series is fast catching up with its source material and will eventually run out of stories to adapt onscreen, it might have to wait until more chapters of the manga will be released. With this scenario, it seems likely that the animated series would have to be put on hold or create filler episodes. Canceling the series seems farfetched though because of its wide fanbase.
It will be a big disappointment to all “One Piece” fans everywhere should the anime series be cancelled just as the excitement is still on the rise. The Straw Hat pirates Captain Monkey D. Luffy is getting closer and closer to finding the elusive treasure One piece and thus becoming the Pirate King says a previous report from GamenGuide.
According to IMDb, the “One Piece” animated series got a rating of 8.8 out of 10 from 41,862 reviews. The manga is also considered as the best-selling manga series in history according to Zakzak, enjoying approximate sales of 380 million in April 2015.
Fans are advised to take the “One Piece” cancellation rumor with a grain of salt unless the announcement comes from mangaka Eiichiro Oda or from its production company Toei Animation. Until then, they should just continue to enjoy watching their favorite anime series.
