'Pokemon Go' Latest News & Update: Increasing Spawns Of Lapras In Japan; Will It Help The Tsunami Affected Area?

After its successful Halloween event and the recent daily quest bonuses, "Pokemon Go" released another event for a cause. "Pokemon Go" developer Niantic, announced the event in the mobile game's Japanese Twitter account that the Northeastern Tohoku region in Japan will experience abundant spawns of the Pokemon Lapras.

The "Pokemon Go" event is said to help boost the tourism of the March 2011's earthquake and tsunami affected areas according to Forbes. The increase Lapras spawns is on the coastlines of the Iwate Prefecture, Miyagi Prefecture and Fukushima Prefecture as well as the locations that were affected by the tsunami.

Niantic alongside the local government of Iwate, Miyagi, Fukushima and Kumamota announced the collaboration in August to attract tourist in the region. During the announcement last August, Miyagi Prefecture said that they are saving 30 million yen or US$ 290,144 for the "Pokemon Go" event according to Japan Times.

The Prefectures are hopeful that the advertising on PokeStops and the increased spawns of Lapras would attract lots of visitors from different parts of Japan as well as nearby countries. The local government has already allocated some public spaces where "Pokempn Go" players could play or sell goods.

The additional spawns of Lapras will last until November 23, Wednesday. Lapras -- giant blue sea creature-- is part of the few rare and most beloved Pokemon in the mobile game. After the news broke loose about this charity event "Pokemon Go" fans all over the world were jealous.

Japan has been one of the most active players of "Pokemon Go" however the game has caused a lot of road accidents and trespassing since its release. Niantic addressed the issue seriously and decided to disable Pokestops and Pokemon Spaws while driving at a certain speed not only in Japan but also worldwide.

The incidents have caused a negative outlook of "Pokemon Go" to some fans. Hopefully the charity event and the changes to the game's mechanics can convince people and players that "Pokemon Go" is a safe and fun game to play.
