Axe Cop is heading over to the small screen. Axe Cop, the newest animated series from FOX, based on the well-known comic book of the same name, just got a new trailer.
This upcoming animated series is based on the web comic that was created by then five-year-old Malachai Nicolle and his 29-year-old brother, Ethan. Axe Cop talks about the adventures of an axe-wielding police officer and his loyal team of allies who makes life hard for the bad guys.
FOX acquired the rights for the Axe Cop animated series last year with plans to later use it as company’s first project in its upcoming late night animated programming block. In the trailer the hero fights alongside his totally bizarre companions as they prepare for a face-off against the King of All Bad Guys and his minions.
Former Adult Swim executive and current head of Animation Domination HD Nick Weidenfeld earlier told Variety that the initial episode order is a sort of a pilot, allowing the company to figure out what to do with the show.
“It’s rare that you find something that feels both so new in its tone and content but also so fully formed,” he says. “To me it was very clear that ‘Axe Cop’ has potential to be a larger franchise.”
Axe Cop, according to IGN, is set for a July 27 debut as a part of FOX's new Saturday night Animation Domination High Definition block. Check out the trailer below.
