George R.R. Martin is one busy man. Fans have long been anticipating the sixth installment to his famous book series "A Song of Ice and Fire." Titled "The Winds of Winter," reports have said that the book is now being proofread, and a surprise seventh book is tagging along.
"Winds of Winter" to be Released Next Year?
The fifth installment of "A Song of Ice and Fire," titled "A Dance with Dragons," was released back in 2011. Now about five years in the making, "The Winds of Winter" has a lot of catching up to do. The series became more popular due to the success of the hit HBO series "Game of Thrones." The show has definitely put on a lot of pressure to the books, with author George R.R. Martin receiving the brunt.
Good thing though, as fans do not have to wait a lot longer for the release of "The Winds of Winter." Reports have claimed that the sixth book will be released in 2017. There are reports saying that Martin is already proofreading "The Winds of Winter." While Martin has definitely put in his best efforts to finish the book as soon as he possibly could, he admitted that he actually was a slow writer. He also wants to assure the quality of the book instead of rushing it for publication.
"A Dream of Spring"
Fans have speculated as to why "The Winds of Winter" had been severely delayed. One rumor is that Martin is simultaneously writing the seventh book in the series as well. Titled "A Dream of Spring," fans believe that the author will be releasing the two books at the same time. This comes as a delight to the fans, as they will be getting more than they expect for the upcoming release.
Daenerys, Queen of Westeros?
Spoilers ahead, as fans speculate what the most likely events in "The Winds of Winter" are. Fan favorite Daenerys is said to be rising to the Iron Throne, but will be sacrificing her dragons. Her ascent to the throne will then be a direct result of the battle between the dragons and the White Walkers. While nothing is confirmed yet, Martin had revealed that major deaths are abound in "The Winds of Winter."
