Sega has confirmed that the next title in the company’s Total War series – Total War: Rome 2 – developed by The Creative Assembly, will release on Sept. 3 for both retail and digital distribution.
The company has also announced a collector’s edition for the game that will feature “Roman-themed games and items,” alongside a custom leather box with a gold logo and magnetic clasping, a canvas campaign map, a Tabula set, a cards game and Tesserae Dice.
Moreover, fans who pre-order the title will receive the game's first piece of downloadable content, called the Greek States Culture Pack. The pack will add three additional playable factions to the game: Epirus, Athens and Sparta – on the opening day.
Each playable faction offers a number of special tactics to achieve cultural and martial victories, as well as lethal elite units to crush foes in battle.
“The award-winning Total War series returns to Rome, setting a brand new quality benchmark for Strategy gaming. Become the world’s first superpower and command the Ancient world’s most incredible war machine. Dominate your enemies by military, economic and political means. Your ascension will bring both admiration and jealousy, even from your closet allies,” the official page states.
“Will you suffer betrayal or will you be the first to turn on old friends? Will you fight to save the Republic, or plot to rule alone as Emperor?”
