Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag will push the bar on Sony's next-generation gaming console PlayStation 4, the game's developers says in a new developer diary for Ubisoft's latest title, spotlighting the PS4 version of the game.
The latest instalment in Sony's "Conversations with Creators" series features Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag's Creative Director Jean Guesdon and Associate Producer Sylvain Trottier discussing the game's creation for PS4. They said the PS4 enables the creators to deliver more graphical detail, a new and advanced form of social connection and a seamless gaming experience like never before.
"We're going to be able to push the bar visually," says Trottier. "It's a lot more intuitive for our engineers." According to the Ubisoft developers, with the PS4's greater power, the team will be able to create a better-looking game than current-generation consoles.
Trottier says the current generation consoles are running at 100 percent of their power suggesting that the PS4 version of the game will feature a slew of details that the Xbox 360 and PS3 simply can't handle. The much-talked about "Share" button on the PS4 enables the developers to create a single-player campaign that's still connected, Guesdon said.
The latest installment of Assassin's Creed will be set in the Caribbean in 1715 where players will take control of Edward Kenway, the grandfather of Assassin's Creed 3 protagonist Connor Kenway. The game will be arguably the biggest in the franchise offering 50 unique locations including the cities of Havana, Kingston and Nassau in addition to smugglers' coves, plantations, jungles, fishing villages and more.
Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag will launch on Oct. 29 in North America and on Nov. 1 in Europe on PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, PC and Wii U.
