It has been over a year since Commander Shepard saved humanity from the Reapers in "Mass Effect 3" and now Bioware has began accepting deposits for a planned replica of the game's famed M-77 Paladin Pistol on the developer's official store that will retail for $400.
According to Bioware's store page, the full-scale replica is "masterfully sculpted and painted by the artisans at TriForce." Weighing in at seven pounds, Bioware touts it as the most authentic representation of the M-77 Paladin Pistol available, thanks to being hand-finished and hand-painted.
Two hundred pieces of this limited edition replica will be produced worldwide; each will require a $200 deposit to reserve one. Bioware's estimated shipping date will be third quarter of this year.
The developer has warned potential buyers of potential confiscations by certain countries' customs agency that will not be refunded.
Considered one of the most expensive weapons available for purchase in "Mass Effect 3," players can find the M-77 Paladin at a Spectre Requisitions terminal in the Citadel Embassies for a whopping 200,000 credits. A powerful and heavy pistol, the M-77 Paladin semi-automatic is incredibly accurate and comes with a small clip size, which is the only drawback.
Last year, Bioware launched a limited edition replica of Mass Effect 3's M-3 Predator Pistol. Though 600 were made and individually numbered, this replica was cast in polystone and featured working LED effects for the same price. Bioware's collection pieces reach outside of imaginary weaponry through full statues of both male and female versions of Commander Shepard along with ship replicas of the various ships including the Normandy, Sovereign Reaper and Turian Cruiser ships.
Though the "Mass Effect" trilogy has ended, the series will see a future through the use of EA Digital Illusions CE's Frostbite engine; putting an end to the series use of the Epic Game's Unreal Engine. The Frostbite engine will also fuel another Bioware title in Dragon Age 3: Inquisition and a future game in the Star Wars franchise. Bioware will also be showing an all-new title at this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in Los Angeles in June.
