"The Witcher 3" game developer CD Projeckt Red is involved in rumors that the company is in trouble. Although this is still unverified, it was said that CD Projekt Red might be on the verge of going under hostile takeover.
Such reports about "The Witcher 3" game developer started to go around after it was publicized that a general meeting was scheduled for all shareholders. On Reddit, it was mentioned that the meeting has been set to take place on Nov. 29 and it will tackle many issues.
Aside from the general issues, the discussion will revolve around three main agenda. The key points in the meeting are Vote on whether or not to allow the company to buy back part of its own shares for 250 million PLN, Vote. This is about whether to merge "The Witcher 3" developer CD Projekt Brands into the holding company and Vote on the change of the company's statute.
Just by mentioning these agenda, it seem to point that CD Projekt Red may really be under the threat of being taken over by another company. If this will happen, most of the company's role playing games like "The Witcher 3," "GWENT" and "Cyberpunk 2077" would definitely be affected by the turn out of events.
The other topic that is expected to be discussed is the shareholders opinion about the unification of CD Projekt brands. Moreover, the company that produced "The Witcher 3" just want to protect its shareholders especially in the event of hostile takeover so they are trying to get their views on the matter of merger.
Meanwhile, before the meeting even takes place, Damien Monnier, the lead designer of "Gwent: The Witcher" card game, just resigned from CD Projekt Red. He announced his departure via Twitter, "Goodbye @CDPROJEKTRED - Thank you for all the great memories. Time for #NewAdventures," he tweeted on November 7th.
With Monnier leaving the team of designers that also created "The Witcher 3," global communication manager Michal Platkow-Gilewski said that they parted in good terms. He explained that both parties amicably agreed to go on separate ways and they will surely miss him in the studio.
