Apple's iPad Mini 5 hasn't been confirmed to exist yet but there are reports and hints that a refreshed version of the tablet will arrive sometime next year. Rumor even has it that the next iPad Mini will make its debut together with a new iPad Pro.
The current iteration, the iPad Mini 4, was released in September 2015 and Apple fanatics had been expecting that the company will release a follow-up. However, the Cupertino-based tech giant already hosted two major events where new products were introduced, the iPhone 7 and MacBook Pro 2016 among others, and still the iPad Mini 5 is missing from the bunch.
Speculation is rife that the iPad Mini 5 should be out by sometime in March, the month that the iPad Pro 2 is also expected to debut. Other reports also suggest that the new iPad Mini will be given a different name. Apple is rumored to drop the Mini series and will give the new tablet the name iPad Pro mini, PCAdvisor reported.
Whether or not the iPad Mini 5 gets to keep its name remains uncertain but the device is expected to have a 7.9-inch Retina display, just like its Mini 4 predecessor. Various media outlets speculate that the device should look almost identical to the iPad Mini 4, but with internal enhancements and a slimmer appeal. According to MacWorld, the iPad Mini 5 could have a thickness of five millimeters. With this rumored thinner design, the device is also expected to carry a small battery, which also means it would be less powerful than the Mini 4's battery.
More importantly, the iPad Mini 5 could also feature an improved and faster chipset in A9. In comparison, the Mini 4 has the A8, so the next iteration could also boast of impressive graphics quality. For now, everything said about the iPad Mini 5 is purely based on speculation but tech experts believe that it isn't unlikely for the device to sport the aforementioned specs.
