The developers behind EA’s upcoming Madden NFL 25 are revealing some of the game’s details, mainly Force Impact and the Run Free System.
Players will now be able to perform new moves that were not possible (or present) in the previous versions of Madden. With the new changes made, ball carriers will be able to execute special moves such as Acceleration Burst, Deceleration, Stutter Steps, Jukes, Back Jukes, Jump Cuts, Spins and more.
“The Madden dev team has been talking a lot about being able to Run Free in Madden NFL 25, and how the Force Impact system and precision modifier give you the ability to do things you’ve never done before,” the official page for the game notes. “All players have access to the basic skills, though players with higher ratings in certain areas will be able to pull off flashier versions.”
The system is giving stronger players heigtened versions of Madden stand-bys such as Stiff-arms, Trucks and Truck Spins. The page states players, while tapping A/X, will experience a “physics punch” stiff-arm that quickly picks a defender and knocks them off-balance.
Moreover, holding the stiff-arm button will let the player “wall-off” the defense, and this will keep the opponent from getting close to the player and challenge him. Players with a strength rating over 90 can make use of this feature, delivering a particularly overwhelming stiff-arm that can take out several defenders.
“Think Marshawn Lynch’s vicious Beast Mode run in the 2011 playoff game against the Saints and you’ll get the general idea,” the page adds.
Players will have the ability to perform Left-Right Juke Combos, Precision Jukes, Spin Jukes, Juke Spins, Jab Step Spins, Precision Back Jukes and more. These features will be useful if a player has defenders closing in from both sides or the player is looking to deploy a tricky move.
“It’s not only the strong who survive in the NFL. Speedy, shifty backs like Darren Sproles and LeSean McCoy can use their elusiveness to get out of trouble. Quickness has always been an asset in the Madden NFL franchise, and it’s on full display this year,” EA writes.
Madden NFL 25 is currently set for an August 25 release for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
