Apple has released a software update, iOS 6.1.4, bringing an updated audio profile for iPhone 5 speakerphone. The update only applies to the iPhone 5, which, as Apple lists, contains "updated audio profile for speakerphone."
The update came as a surprise to both end users and developers alike and the changes it brings about are largely behind the scenes. On the surface, Apple did not list out any security patches or updates to 6.1.4. Contrary to its usual style, Apple did not seed the update to developers in advance, probably due to its very minor nature.
You can upgrade your iPhone to the latest update by going to open Settings -> General -> Software Update and tap Download and Install when the update arrives. Users also can receive the update from iTunes or download it manually from Apple's support site.
The last update, iOS 6.1.3 was released in March which brought in a slew of bug fixes including a lock screen security bug and improvements to some Apple Maps features for users in Japan.
Apple is currently working on the next version of its mobile operating system, iOS 7 which is expected this fall release. The tech-giant is also expected to release the next build of its Mac OS X operating system along with iOS 7.
