The "Gears of War" series is celebrating its 10th birthday next week. The upcoming 10th anniversary of the popular Microsoft-based franchise will mark a milestone for the Xbox brand and Microsoft is making sure this historic event does not go unnoticed. With "Gears of War 4" being the most recent installment of the series, Microsoft is also planning to release a treat for its fans in the form of add-on content.
According to Gamespot, Microsoft will be celebrating the 10th anniversary of "Gears of War" by hosting a "Ten Years of Gears" event. During this event, Microsoft plans to release new DLC content for "Gears of War 4" entitled the Tenth Anniversary Pack. Within this upcoming DLC content is Gary Carmine, a brand new playable character for use in multiplayer.
Carmine will come loaded with weapons from other memorable characters, most notably his brothers. Gary will be able to wield Clayton's Lancer, Benjamin's Gnasher, and Anthony's Longshot in "Gears of War 4." The DLC will also come with various emblems, weapon sets, and bounties that commemorate the franchise's tenth anniversary.
However, the only way "Gears of War 4" players can obtain this commemorative DLC pack is through playing the game. As reported by Destructoid, players must attain in-game currency in order to purchase the content in-game. The price of admission to the Tenth Anniversary Pack will run the players 200 credits per purchase of one random item. Depending on what the player gets, doubling on items is a possibility.
Additionally, the 10th anniversary will also be grounds for Microsoft to hold special events celebrating the franchise. Community events, competitions, and other social events are being planned for "Gears of War" fans to share their enthusiasm for the franchise. Updates will also be made within the multiplayer mode and bounty system for "Gears of War 4." The most notable change being the bounty system offering significantly more experience points or credits based on the player's chosen difficulty.
