Super Mario Crossover 3.0 In the Works [TRAILER]

It's been three years since the first Super Mario Crossover, a remix of Super Mario. Bros. with characters like Samus from Metroid and the guy from Contra, hit browsers across the web, delaying work and studying alike all across the world. To celebrate, developer Exploding Rabbit is working on a third version, adding in even more characters, skins, and a new difficulty offering a greater challenge.

Check out the trailer below to see what else the game will have to offer.

The first Crossover game featured a barrage of characters from NES classics like Metroid, Contra, and Castlevania wreaking havoc in the Mushroom Kingdom in Mario's place.

The second Crossover game added in the tank from Blaster Master, and Ryu Hayabusa of Ninja Gaiden. It was followed up by Super Mario Crossover 2.1, which threw in different skins for each character, world, and even made gameplay subtle a difference by letting players choose which system they could play the game on.

As can be seen in the trailer, even more skins for worlds and characters are coming in 3.0, not to mention "new" enemies, power-ups, and more, as well as levels from the obscure Super Mario Bros. Special. A blog post over at explodingrabbit.com provides a few more details on what the update has to offer.

The browser game addition is expected sometime in May or June.
