After the unveiling of the MacBook Pro 2016, laptop fans are now looking forward to the release of the Microsoft Surface Pro 5. The device was not announced during the October event of Microsoft so fans are anticipating in the spring of 2017.
Though there is still a few information on how the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 will look and function, many are already wondering how it will fair with the MacBook Pro 2016. Here is a comparison of the two devices:
Display and processor
The Microsoft Surface Pro 5 is expected to come with a 4K display and Kaby Lake processors from Intel. The latter was just released earlier in August.
On the other hand, the 13- and 15-inch MacBook Pro 2016 models feature a 2.9 GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 processor. It is also equipped with Turbo Boost speeds with a memory of 8GB and 256GB of flash storage.
Microsoft Surface Pro 5 stylus
The Surface Pen is one of the possible major highlights of the Microsoft Surface Pro 5. It is expected to have a magnetic charging dock which is made exclusively for the stylus. This will make navigating and doing things easier using the stylus and the Surface Pro 5.
MacBook Pro 2016 Touch Bar
This new technology of the MacBook Pro 2016 Touch bar is the strip of touchscreen keys on top of the actual keyboard which was designed to take the place of the function keys found in old Apple laptop models. The buttons that will reflect on the Touch Bar will depend on the software being used on the MacBook Pro 2016.
Its main functions include editing photos, working on Microsoft documents, adding emojis and using the Touch ID. A simple swipe and touch of the hand increases the productivity of the Apple laptop.
Price
The newly released MacBook Pro 2016 is sold for $1,499. These laptops will be released two to three weeks after Apple's announcement of the device.
As for the Microsoft Surface Pro 5, it is expected to cost almost the same as the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 which is $899. Additional features and memory could cost one around $1000.
