Johnny Depp Confirmed Joining 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them' Sequel; ‘Harry Potter’ Book Series Author J.K. Rowling Slammed By Fans

J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter spin-off "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" is premiering this month, but there are already talks about its sequel, particularly involving the actor who has been confirmed to join the cast. "The Pirates of the Caribbean's" Johnny Depp has been signed on to play a role in the fantasy film's sequel.

There is not much to know yet about "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" sequel since fans still have to watch the first movie. The release date for the sequel has yet to be revealed, but Deadline already confirmed that Johnny Depp will be part of the movie, although his specific role is still kept under wraps.

While it's exciting news for fans of Johnny Depp to know that he will star in another fantasy film, the same thing cannot be said of Harry Potter fans. Book series author J.K. Rowling is now facing criticisms after news of Depp's involvement in "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" sequel broke out. For those not in the know, the 53-year-old actor is tied to a domestic abuse scandal with ex-wife Amber Heard. Avid Potter fans then took to the social media to express their disappointment over the matter.

Fans slammed Rowling for allowing Johnny Depp to participate in a big movie considering the evidence that proved he'd abused Heard. "Harry Potter is so obviously condemning any type of abuse (i.e Umbridge, Dursleys, Tom Riddle), so how can they allow this? #FantasticBeasts," one fan wrote on Twitter. But not everyone was furious about Johnny Depp's casting for "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" sequel. Some thought that despite what the actor may have done, he would still be great for the movie.

It's still too early to know what role the "Dark Shadows" actor will play in the sequel of "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them." For now, fans will just have to look forward to the official premiere date of the Eddie Redmayne-starred movie, which will be on Nov. 18. Do you think Johnny Depp should be in the sequel?
