HTC One X May Soon Receive Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean Update, Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie Unlikely [RUMOR]

HTC One X owners have a new reason to cheer, as the 2012 smartphone will soon receive the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update. However, the good news is overshadowed by a rumor that says a further update to Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie for the device is pretty unlikely.

An HTC tipster claims that HTC One X's Android 4.2 Jelly Bean update will be the last Android update for the aging dual-core smartphone, meaning an upgrade to Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie is in doubt, GottaBeMobile reports. The information comes from HTC leakster @LLabTooFeR, who tweeted "No ETAs at the moment...4.2.2 will be last update for One X."

Meanwhile, Techradar notes that if HTC One X isn't getting the Key Lime Pie update, then it seems unlikely that the company's other 2012 models, such as  the HTC One X+, HTC One S and HTC One SV will get it either.

Although HTC is yet to confirm an update schedule for the 4.7-inch handset, it's rumored that the update will include the latest version of Sense 5.0. The Taiwanese smartphone maker's recently released flagship smartphone HTC One was launched with Android 4.1 and it's believed that the device will skip 4.2 and go straight to 5.0.

Google is expected to officially unveil Key Lime Pie at Google I/O next month. The Nexus handsets are expected to be the first devices to be updated to Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie.
