We covered a barrage of reviews for Dead Island: Riptide on Monday, but now you're free to judge for yourselves, as the zombie basher is now out for the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC.
It looks to be a lot more of the same as what the first Dead Island had to offer, with a few extras added in like some new zombie types, and a new playable character.
Looking at the trailer, you can see some praise for the game from various media outlets, but remember, it's all about context. It's true that IGN did say that players are "in for a treat," but they also said "Riptide doesn't lift a finger to address the original Dead Island's failures."
and gave it a ho-hum score of 7.2. And the "cleansing bloodbath" bit from GameFront? That was based on a Riptide preview from back in September. Likewise for the "very intense chaotic ride" from Co-Optimus.
Yes, this sort of thing is fairly commonplace in movies and games alike, but if quotes are already taken out of context this early in the game, it's surely a bad sign. But grab it if you feel like judging it for yourselves. At least that's my plan.
