Samsung could be introducing another notable character soon; first in its upcoming smartphone S8 and perhaps a little later in its upcoming gadget lines. It is said that the virtual assistant of the Samsung Galaxy S8 could be named "Bixby" after it had been reported that Samsung itself filed for a trademark in South Korea which sought for exclusive rights to use that word.
Samsung Galaxy S8 AI To Have Voice Command Features Across All Samsung Platforms?
If rumors are right, this virtual assistant could be used for voice command and recognition platforms across Samsung's digital platforms. It could also be the company's first virtual assistant to come with its upcoming flagship phone in 2017.
Phone Arena reports that this trademark was presumably done so that Samsung would not be outdone by its rivals that have invested a lot on virtual assistants that come with their devices. How this virtual assistant will fare when the Samsung S8 gets released and whether or not it will stick around for quite some time is still unknown to users at this point.
Samsung Galaxy S8 Bixby To Rival The Likes Of Siri, Cortana
The trademark filed for the Samsung Galaxy S8 Bixby says that this will denote a computer software for smartphones and other mobile devices. This would be for support of software used to operate voice recognition system and the enabling of hands-free used of a mobile device through voice recognition.
With what appears, it looks like the Samsung Galaxy S8 Bixby could be amongst some of the best voice-controlled digital assistant that could go head on against the likes of Siri, Cortana and Google's own Google Assistant. This is not the first time a virtual assistant has been with Samsung as the S Voice assistant has been with them for quite some time already but has not proven to be a success.
Slash Gear reports that the filing of this trademark shows how much Samsung is betting on its upcoming flagship phone, the Galaxy S8. This could presumably be from the losses and tarnished reputation that it got after the big issues after the Galaxy Note 7 failures and their desperation to bounce back from it.
Of course, Samsung still remains to be one of the pioneers and the biggest players in the smartphone market and it appears that they will not let go of their top spot too easily. Stay tuned for more updates on the Samsung Galaxy S8!
