Many people praise Microsoft for bringing backward compatibility for the Xbox One with the Xbox 360 games. As it turns out, the upcoming Project Scorpio would also be supporting this nifty feature.
Xbox Backward Compatibility
With every new game release, the Xbox game library just keeps getting bigger and bigger. One major factor that adds to this immense library is Microsoft's tremendous effort to bring Xbox 360 titles to the Xbox One, through the backward compatibility program.
There is no doubt that Microsoft has been remaining resilient in the gaming console market. Xbox One is currently among the hottest devices in this field. Being the flagship offering from the tech giant, its premium specs and performance also match its premium price tag. Same can be said for the mysterious Project Scorpio.
One of the most glaring shortcomings of the Xbox One when it was released in 2013 was that it did not support backward compatibility for Xbox 360 games out of the box. This then caused a public outcry where fans who had a huge Xbox 360 game library to bring the games to the new flagship.
Microsoft Project Scorpio
While it took Microsoft two years to address the issue with the Xbox One, they have just recently confirmed that it would not be the case for the Project Scorpio. Microsoft platform engineer Mike Ybarra had already confirmed that the upcoming gaming console would natively support Xbox 360 games that are already backward compatible with Xbox One.
This is absolutely a good news for those who are eagerly waiting for the Project Scorpio. For those who are not up to speed, Project Scorpio is the new gaming console that is currently under development by Microsoft. It is expected to be the much-awaited upgraded for the Xbox One, and will bring 4K gaming in the mix. Project Scorpio is also expected to be officially released during the holidays next year.
