When Nintendo finally unveiled the all new Nintendo Switch, Nvidia also revealed that it is working on the new handheld console. The upcoming gaming device boasts a custom Tegra processor, which belongs to the same family of chips found in both Nvidia Shield tablet and console.
The said chip is closely as powerful as the standard Xbox One and can run HD last-gen games at 1080p and 60fps. And the games that Nintendo showcased in the debut trailer of the Nintendo Switch totally look awesome. The updated, custom version of the Tegra is likely to handle games like "Doom 2016" or "Civilization VI," according to VentureBeat.
The Nintendo Switch may feature an emulation of the previous Nintendo hardware. Another possible feature of the new console is gameplay recording, which is a feature found on both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Other media capabilities might also be seen as all Nvidia's Tegra products are highly capable when it comes to watching movies and TVs. So it would not take heavy work to get them ported to the Switch.
As the release of the Nintendo Switch is fast approaching, fans will more likely get more information about the upcoming device. However, Nintendo will still need to announce the price and convince consumers about the real value of the console.
Meanwhile, a lot of fans are questioning whether the Switch comes with a touchscreen feature. Based on the report of Eurogamer, the hardware support grubby fingers. More so, the Switch is reportedly sporting a 6.2-inch, 720p capacitive multitouch display, which could be a first for the company as it mainly relied on the conventional resistive touchscreens until now.
The company, however, is not giving clarification yet when it comes to potential touchscreen feature of the Nintendo Switch. More information about the upcoming device is expected to be revealed in January next year. Watch What Nvidia's Shield tells us about the Nintendo Switch:
