Expectations are high for the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S8 because of the upgrades it promises fans of the brand. It is expected to be a way better version th previously release Samsung Galaxy S7.
Samsung Vice Chairman Lee Jae-Yong teased that the new instalment in the Galaxy S series will have a better camera and an improved design. There is said to be a subtle redesign of the brand's devices.
Curved edges
One major change expected are the curved edges not only on both sides of the Samsung Galaxy S8 but also on its top and bottom. With this design, the OLED display will already be edge-to-edge to improve the user experience of Samsung Galaxy S8 owners.
Aside from this, the smartphone will also reportedly have a body without bezel adding to the full-screen display concept of the phone. Others also suggest that Samsung will already do away with the home button and add a fingerprint sensor on the bottom of the display.
Better for VR
The bigger screen of the Samsung Galaxy S8, as per Samsung display spokesperson Park Won-sang, will also allow users to enjoy virtual reality applications. It will also greatly complement VR devices like the Gear VR and the Google Daydream VR headset.
However, smartphone specialists are warning Samsung not to associated the Galaxy S8 to the faulty Samsung Galaxy Note 7 which had exploding battery issues. The upcoming phone will be a constant reminder to Samsung users and fans that something better is coming and not the brand can recover from the failure of the Note 7.
Release Date
The Samsung Galaxy S8 is expected to be released in February 2017. Its timeline for release is a few months ahead of Apple's unveiling of the iPhone 8 which usually happens every September. Samsung's previous release, the Galaxy S7, have received reports of explosion apparently caused by unstable batteries.
