April Nintendo Direct Round-Up: 3DS Release Dates, New 'The Legend of Zelda' and More

As usual, Nintendo's latest Nintendo Direct conference streamed with way too much news to take in. We've put up a couple things already today, linked at the appropriate time below, but here's the full list of updates for both the 3DS and Wii U games. Plenty of new games were announced alongside release dates and gameplay footage. Nintendo's Youtube page is littered with this stuff. We posted the full Nintendo Direct conference at the bottom.

New 3DS Retail Titles:

A "The Legend of Zelda" top-down title based in the "A Link to the Past" world is coming later this year.

"Mario Party" is coming this Winter.

"Yoshi's Island" was announced, release date details not-so-much.

North American ports for Square Enix's "Bravely Default: Flying Fairy" and the latest in the "Professor Layton" series are on their way in 2014.

Upcomming 3DS Games Detailed:

The next in the "Mario & Luigi" RPG-lite series, "Mario & Luigi: Dream Team," which sees Mario adventuring into the dreams of his brother, is coming out on August 11.

"Mario Golf: World Tour," due this summer, will feature both online and local live multiplayer, in addition to communities similar to "mario Kart 7" and asynchronous tournament play.

"Lego City Undercover: The Chase Begins" releases very soon, April 21, and features an open-world like its console cousin.

"Animal Crossing: New Leaf" is releasing June 9 alongside a new 3DS XL hardware bundle ($219.99) with the game pre-installed.

"Donkey Kong: Country Returns 3D," ported over from the Wii, will feature an easier mode adjusted for portable play as well as a new world after the original eight. The game will feature local cooperative play and is coming out May 24.

eShop exclusive "Mario & Donkey Kong: Minis on the Move," the latest in the long-running portable series, is coming out on May 9. Players will be able to create and share levels online in addition to tackling 180 pre-made stages over four different game modes.

GameBoy color classics "The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages" and "The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Season" are coming to the 3DS virtual console on May 30.

The Atlus RPG "Shin Megami Tensei IV" is coming to North America on July 16.

Wii U Games and Updates Detailed:

The spring update scheduled this month is coming sometime next week (get the details here), followed the next day by the formal release of the system's Virtual Consoles. A collection of games will be available on that day, from classic Mario titles to "Metroid" and "F-Zero." Nintendo also announced "Earthbound" would be coming to the virtual console by the end of the year.

"New Super Luigi U," a downloadable expansion to "New Super Mario Bros. U," features redesigns for all 82 stages tailored specifically to Luigi's higher jump and slippery footing. The timer on each of these stages starts much lower than usual at 100.

"Pikmin 3" is coming out on August 4. Pictured below is the new pink winged Pikmin, which joins the rock pikmin as new species for the upcoming release.

Minigame collection "Game & Wario" is coming out June 23.

A free demo for the Wii U "Panorama View" application will be released after the update. One free virtual tour is available while others will cost $2.

New Level-5 3DS eShop-only Titles:

Level-5, known for the "Professor Layton" series, is publishing three games onto the eShop sometime soon."The Starship Damrey" is a suspensfull, click-and-point adventure without tutorials or objectives.

"Bugs vs. Tanks" from "Mega Man's" Keiji Infuane lets players take control World War 2 tanks shrunk down to fight giant bugs.

"Attack of the Friday Monsters A Tokyo Tale" thrusts players into an the shoes of a young boy who lives in a town where monsters from 80's-era Japanese TV shows come to life every Friday.
