"Edge of Tomorrow 2" is no longer as fictional as people may think of it to be, especially as the director himself spoke on what the movie could become. Without spoiling anything for the fans, the man behind the second installment could be dressing up the movie just right.
As some may be aware, the 2014 hit "Edge of Tomorrow" was a commercial success, despite not being able to rake in all the gold. Setting such aside, the continuity of the film is said to not just be a sequel thereof, but a prequel as well respectively.
As per Collider, Doug Liman, director of the first film, claimed that he will most likely take a different approach in "Edge of Tomorrow 2," but did not specify exactly as to what it will be. All that Liman ever noted for the said film is that he wants to revolutionize how sequels are made, pitching different ideas here and there. Moreover, Liman said that he agreed to do the sequel due to his love of the story all throughout.
Reports stated that the full story of "Edge of Tomorrow 2" is still apparently kept from the rest of the world, with the aid of Christopher McQuarrie. For those unaware, McQuarrie had films under his coat such as "Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation" and "The Way of the Gun," meaning that working on something immensely action-packed is no longer a new trick.
The original "Edge of Tomorrow" looks at Tom Cruise as a Public Relations Officer that inadvertently becomes a soldier to face a war against an alien opposition. He finds himself needing the help of a war-bound soldier played by Emily Blunt who trained Cruise to survive the continuous live-die-repeat scenario that the movie popularized. The script for "Edge of Tomorrow 2" is being worked on by Anna Waterhouse and Joe Shrapnel, with still an unnamed specific release date.
