Could there be a sequel to the cult hit "Hocus Pocus"? Bette Midler showed up in a fundraiser Halloween party dressed as her iconic character Winnie Sanderson from Hocus Pocus. This was for the New York Restoration Project's Hulaween fundraiser.
This raised hope for the fans that the Sanderson sisters, played by Kathy Najimy, Sarah Jessica Parker and Bette Midler, could have another Hocus Pocus movie.
Bette Midler said during an interview with Billboard that she loves the idea of another Hocus Pocus installment. "You don't get to see women doing slapstick too much, and in the movie you can see that we're having a blast," she quipped. "For the life of me, I can't understand why there's not a sequel."
If Bette Midler is not enough, Director Kenny Ortega, on Instagram, gave hints on the possible sequel. Ortega shared pictures from Hocus Pocus and asked fans if they would love seeing more from the Sanderson sisters. "Thank you to all our #hocuspocus Fans for 23 years of love and support! It's that time of the year again when #Winnie, #Mary and #Sara #thesandersonsisters #putaspellonyou Anyone want a Sequel?" he asked his followers. "Hocus Pocus is currently playing on the Big Screen at the exquisite #elcapitantheatre in #Hollywood #california Happy Halloween!", he wrote on his Instagram account.
It is also good to note that on 2014 Midler joined a Reddit AMA regarding the possible sequel and was supported by Parker and Najimy. Najimy wrote, "Hocus people, Bette says it best. Listen to your elders!," followed by a link to the article about Bette Midler's call for Hocus Pocus sequel. Also, as a response to a query by Buzzfeed in Twitter if she will participate in a Hocus Pocus sequel, Sarah Jessica Parker simply responded "I'm in." Hocus Pocus sequel a go?
