Bethesda says that the studio is ending its DLC support for the popular "Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim," as the company is ramping up production on its next project.
Bethesda acknowledges it will release only "minor" updates for the open-world role-playing game. "Even though we're moving on, we'll still have minor updates to 'Skyrim' as needed. We've invested so much of ourselves into 'Skyrim' and will never truly say goodbye to it," the company says in a post on the Bethblog.
The blog states the team has moved on to the pre-production for its next game. "Parts of our team have also been in pre-production on our next major project, and that game is at the point where it requires the studio's full attention to make it our biggest and best work yet," the official statement reads.
Skyrim is undoubtedly Bethesda's most successful release from both a sales and a critical standpoint. The studio has released three DLC packs since Skyrim shipped in Nov. 2011. They are Dawnguard, Hearthfire, and Dragonborn in addition to Kinect support for the Xbox 360 version and the Creation Kit for the PC version.
Although there is no official word on Bethesda's next project, current speculation centers on a Boston-set "Fallout 4." Here's why we think their next game will be "Fallout 4."
