Android 7.1 Nougat may soon be available for Nexus devices and will not anymore be exclusive to Google phones and gadgets. The edition was made available in late October as promised by the tech company.
Google's vice president for engineering David Burke earlier announced that they will have the Android 7.1 as "an open Developer Preview. "You'll be able to test and build on the new platform and try the latest features," he added.
Coming to Nexus
After its exclusive release to Google devices, there are already reports indicating that the Android 7.1 Nougat will be available for the Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P and Pixel C tablet by December. People who already have access to the Android beta program can already experience the Android 7.1 Nougat.
This Android Nougat edition is a welcome addition to other devices like Nexus phones and gadgets. Other smartphones may also see the Android 7.1 Nougat soon since many users have been asking Google to not just release this as an exclusive to their devices.
Petition for other brands
Anthony Van Dyck Pesaro, an Italian smartphone user, has started a petition which asked Google to be fair in their offerings and not prioritize their own gadgets. He claimed that the company should treat other brands of devices like ASUS fairly.
Android 7.1 Nougat features
Many smartphone users would like to experience the Android 7.1 Nougat because of its added features on security and performance of a device. Some designs will also be tweaked like the app icons which will already be circular.
As for storage, users will also be able to manage their available space. Files which are not anymore needed will be automatically deleted by just adjusting Settings on the device.
Aside from these, there will be a keyboard support to widens the content that users can enter using their devices' keyboards. This means more stickers and GIFs are coming.
