It is exciting to note that director Scott Derrickson has already an idea of who will be Benedict Cumberbatch's perfect villain in the "Doctor Strange" Sequel. The plot seemed a little bit complicated, but it will surely add an interesting twist in this psychedelic flick.
Derrickson said in an interview with IGN that Benedict Cumberbatch's perfect villain in the "Doctor Strange" Sequel will be Nightmare from the "Strange Tales" series. The supervillain was created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko.
So, who is Nightmare? The character first appeared in "Strange Tales" #110 which was published in July 1963. In the Dream Dimension, he is the evil ruler who makes people suffer during their sleep. Doctor Strange himself first met this villain when a murderer asks the doctor's help to get rid of his nightmares. Will Nightmare still look the same in the "Doctor Strange" Sequel?
Fans can only speculate what Nightmare would look like in the "Doctor Strange" Sequel. But in the original series, he looks like a chalk-white man with green hair. His body suit is also green with a ragged cape.
Derrickson said that while Nightmare could be the perfect villain for Benedict Cumberbatch, they decided not to include him yet in the debut of "Doctor Strange." He further explained that the idea of nightmare as a dimension is very complex. In the "Doctor Strange" Sequel, it is expected that the dream dimension will be explored as they believe that it will be a super cool idea.
"Doctor Strange" Sequel has yet to be confirmed by its producer but considering the success it has in the theatres, fan can be quite sure that they have something to expect in the future. For sure, Marvel is as excited as the fans themselves.
