There is no sight of the MacBook Air 2016 though it may only be the name that is missing. In fact, the MacBook Air was apparently present when Apple introduced the new MacBook Pro 2016 line in the form of the 13-inch model.
The Retina MacBook Air actually debuted?
The 13-inch MacBook Pro model is basically the Retina MacBook Air that many buyers have been waiting for. But why it is under the MacBook Pro 2016 lineup?
Though Apple has not rendered anything official, it seems obvious that the MacBook Air line will eventually be a thing of the past. Recall that it was supposed to come out alongside or after the MacBook Pro 2016 debut but that may not be happening.
For $1,500, it will be interesting if this variant will gain. It does come oozing with power in a thin mold though it excludes the Touch Bar many have long been waiting to see on the MacBook Pro line. It comes with a couple of USB ports, a headphone jack, and a shallow keyboard which could be enough to entice some buyers, CNet reported.
Soon to be obsolete
The name may be familiar but it goes without saying that the MacBook Air may soon be obsolete. But bear in mind that it is only the name exiting and not the device itself. Hence, it may be a matter of getting used to. The current gen MacBook Air is still around and unless Apple clears the air, the former entry-level notebook may be as good as dead, per reports.
Again, nothing has been made official and Apple may have just wanted to expand the MacBook Pro 2016 to the beginners. This is something that just doesn’t make too much sense when you think about how the MacBook Air line has been built for.
