Apart from mostly positive reviews and warm reception that Electronic Arts' new sequel "Titanfall 2" is enjoying, the publisher decided to make all future DLC free of cost. Yes, no more season pass and in-game purchase because maps and modes in multiplayer campaign are free.
Remember how first person shooters like "Battlefield 1" and "Call of Duty" franchise made the main game bare then offer better weapon and gears later for a fee? This isn't the case with "Titanfall 2." Ironically, both previously mentioned titles were published by EA as well.
What could be the reason behind EA's sudden charity is unknown. All the more that makes this move interesting is that "Titanfall 2" is not a losing title. In fact, this new sequel is doing so damn well that it received excellent reviews and 89 score from Metacritics. So high a score that it is currently on top of first person shooters food chain even against "Battlefield 1" and "Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare."
Now here is another queer detail from an announcement the other day regarding purchase of "Titanfall 2," EA promised long-term content support at no cost - ever. Geeky Gadgets reported that investing in this title means getting full solo gameplay campaign, full multiplayer mode with all maps, extra contents and of course, the long-term support as promised.
"Titanfall 2" was developed by Respawn and published by EA. If gamers have to take Respawn's side, it is Josh Medina who spoke that they don't believe that in-game purchase is essential to beat the game. After all, this model only works for those who have extra cash to shell out but compromises others who can only afford the base game. Medina capped his statement by saying that "Titanfall 2" is all about keeping a close gaming community instead of setting up a fence between those who can afford and those who can't.
