Mariah Carey is back on the headlines because she was said to have broken up with her billionaire fiance, James Packer. It was said that despite their engagement earlier this year, the two had called it quits but the reason was not really clear.
Based on the reports, it was the Australian businessman who dumped Carey after having disagreements regarding the singer's reality show. It was also alleged that Carey's extravagant spending is another issue that caused the break up.
"It's all over," Woman's Day quoted a close relative of Packer as saying. "James had huge reservations about Mariah's new reality TV show and the fact that she was willing to expose their lives to the world."
In other publications, people were claiming that Carey's attitude towards Packer's family is another issue. For instance, when Packer's sister Gretel celebrated her 50th birthday, the singer refused and could not be convinced to come to the party in Sydney. Even Packer's mother was reported to be having difficulties in connecting with her supposed future daughter-in-law.
But this was not all, Daily Mail reported that jealousy played a huge part in the split. The publication stated that Packer was jealous of Carey's choreographer and back-up dancer named Bryan Tanaka. At one point, the billionaire businessman even used his connections to ban the choreographer from entering the Caesar's Palace where the "All I Want for Christmas Is You" singer has a home.
On the other hand, Carey's camp is claiming that Packer has an odd personality which does not sit well with the singer. It was said that Carey does not have a choice but to leave him because she cannot bear his ways and attitude any longer.
The couple met in 2014 in Aspen and they started dating a few months after in 2015. Their relationship was publicized after they were seen on a vacation in Italy.
Now, with the break up, there are speculations that Packer did not take back the 35-carat diamond engagement ring that he gave Carey when he proposed in January. The ring was reported to cost a whooping $10 million. If their wedding will push through, it would be the third marriage for both of them.
