Following the election-themed video that went viral in September, NBC is now working on a "Will & Grace Revival. The network is planning to do a limited series reboot that will include 10 episodes.
Taking home 16 Emmy awards in its heyday, "Will & Grace" aired for eight seasons. All four stars - Debra Messing, Eric McCormack, Sean Hayes, and Megan Mullally scored Emmy gold for their roles. For the "Will & Grace Revival" however, no deals have been placed on the stars yet.
Debra Messing did previously state that she wouldn't say no to a "Will & Grace Revival". Messing is also known for her friendship with Bob Greenblatt, NBC's big boss, that could mean that reprising her role might become a huge possibility.
Creators Max Mutchnick and David Kohan's involvement on the "Will & Grace Revival" is still also questionable, although it was Mutchnick's idea to stage the reunion. Sets stored at Emerson College in Boston, Mutchnick had to transport it to the original studio just to film the reunion video. The video has garnered over 6 million views - an achievement that couldn't be unlocked without the help of James Burrows himself, the original show's director.
As of now, it is still unclear whether the "Will & Grace Revival" will be aired by NBC, or if Universal Television will produce the show. Another thing in consideration is the fact that the revival could be outbid by other networks who are also interested in the hit series. Along with that, the show could choose a streaming home, which Messing already hinted out in an interview.
"Now there are platforms where you can do six or 10 episodes. I don't believe we would ever come back to network again," Messing stated when asked about the "Will & Grace Revival." "But for something shorter-lived and maybe having the limitations of being on network TV lifted may give us a fun, fresh opportunity because we could be really, really naughty!"
Updates of the "Will & Grace Revival" are yet to be announced. Meanwhile, stay tuned to GamenGuide for more TV news.
