The iPhone 8 has now started to make its first round in the grapevine and multiple rumors have given their dishes. Topping the list is an expected all-new design plus more powerful features that will take the Cupertino company to the new Millennium.
As mentioned in a previous post, the iPhone 8 is expected to be a game-changer. It will come in glass casings and allegedly shift from the old TFT-LCD screens to the new OLED technology. Going the extra mile, the iPhone 8 may also come with eye sensors which call to mind the Microsoft HoloLens.
Three variants coming in 2017?
With the bases set, the next question is how many variants will the iPhone 8 come out with. Traditionally, there may only be two with the iPhone 8 or the iPhone 8 Plus. But what if Apple suddenly adds a third model to the mix?
In terms of size, Nikkei Asian Review claims that there may be three coming. That includes a 4.7-inch, 5-inch, and a 5.5-inch. Seeing those three phones don a glass back coming from Biel Crystal Manufactory and Lens Technology only ramps up the excitement all the more.
As far as seeing an all-glass body for the iPhone 8, Neurogadget claims that it may not be an entire glass body. A metal frame will be responsible to hold the front and back parts together though it could be minimal.
5.5-inch is the iPhone 8 Plus?
While there is no word yet on how the three models would be named, the best bet is that the 5.5-inch version will be the iPhone 8 Plus. This is the best bet to carry the OLED displays with the two lower models still using the poly-silicon technology currently used by the iPhone 7.
Right now, three models could be neat but the realistic expectations are just two. Then again, there is always an iPhone 8 SE to look forward to so keep an eye out on what Apple truly plans for its next big flagship.
