Those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it. Such is the case for Electronic Arts and Bank of America. After facing off last year, the two titans of their respective industries have returned to face off once again, to see who will take home the illustrious crown of golden poo, aka Consumerist's Worst Company in America poll.
EA managed to edge out Anheuser-Busch in the first round, decimating the brewing monolith by taking a massive 92% of the vote, likely because of tasty products like Stella Artois and Beck's help the gaming audience deal with EA's own "SimCity" in the first place. EA would then go up against Facebook, another company they blew out of the water with close to 80%. Apparently more people take issue with Origin Facebook likes.
Next up, AT&T, which was another decimation by EA, taking 84%. EA then blasted apart Ticketmaster, likely because while expensive, they actually provide their audience with entertainment. This was another crushing "win" for EA, receiving 79% of the vote.
Bank of America's wins were a bit closer by comparison, but a giant bank has a tendency to affect more people than a giant game company, especially when they've done things like foreclose on a guy two days after approving his mortgage modification.
However, the gamer audience is a vocal bunch. It'll be interesting to see if EA will wear a poopie crown for two years in a row, a Consumerist first. Voting is open until midnight tonight, so go speak your mind here.
