The first thing to know about Frogmind's “BADLAND” is how simple the game is. The game from ex-Red Lynx developers uses one-touch controls.
“BADLAND” has as many as 40 levels of sidescrolling fun to offer, with the initial levels on the easy side. However, things take a huge turn as you go forward and encounter a huge difficulty spike.
The goal of the game is to keep your creatuer aflot by tapping on the screen. While the creature may seem cuddly, it’s also slightly sinister. If you get pushed off the screen it's game over. However, with early stages offering structures consisting of pillars and platforms, it’s not that big a problem.
With progress comes options. Options like orange colored globes that effect the size of your creature, or other power ups that lets your creature stick to the wall or roll speedily.
Size matters because your options are crushing enemies with your enormous size or passing through minute gaps with your small size.
Your obstacles will keep changing as you progress, ranging from seesaws to mines.
The best part of the game is the multiplayer mode. In it you and your puzzle-solving friend complete levels together. My friend and I used a iPads and the game seems optimized for the iPad's larger screen.
