WWE Raw is trying to pull out all the stops as it tries to gain in the rating game. The show inserted Goldberg to the fray in an effort to satisfy they craving of fans who want the 49-year-old actor/wrestler get it on with Brock Lesnar. Quietly, someone playing a supporting role has been winning the fans – Chris Jericho.
For the ones following the show, Jericho has been tied up with Universal champion Kevin Owens. Under the storylines, the two are supposed to be best buddies though folks are wise to note that this will eventually develop into a clash soon. So does this mean that Jericho could conspicuously be Universal Champion?
It could happen but only for a short time. Currently a heel, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the foul-mouthed Jericho turning face. At 45, he has been able to successfully do that in the past so he can easily do the same at this stage of his career. It may, however, depend on what the future holds for Y2J.
There are reports claiming that Jericho may be leaving the WWE scene once more in 2017 to continue work with his band “Fozzy”. If true, his anticipated match with Kevin Owens at WWE Hell in a Cell could very well be the last for him at least for the year, Cageside Seats reported.
Hints on a possible feud between the two have been seen and the heat is expected to pick up in the following weeks. If Y2J is to leave, who picks up the slack?
Jericho doesn’t need to be a champion to prove his value to the WWE Universe. He has done it via his sidekick and comedic character which fans are loving, Forbes reported. But come 2017, the creative team needs to come up with something if they are to continue finding ways to improve in the rating binge and avoid the wrath of CEO Vince McMahon.
