Back to this again? Unfortunately, yes, we are.
Kotaku is claiming two more sources that are giving credence to the always online rumors for Microsoft's next-gen console. Obviously, they're not naming names, but here's the cut n' dry:
Speaking over e-mail, Source 1 - "Unless something has changed recently...Durango consumer units must have an active internet connection to be used. If there isn't a connection, no games or apps can be started...If the connection is interrupted then after a period of time--currently three minutes, if I remember correctly--the game/app is suspended and the network troubleshooter started."
The "new" is neither cited nor quoted, but as Kotaku puts it, confirms the first source's statements with regards to "the specifics about how the Durango would handle a dropped connection."
As per usual, Microsoft neither confirmed or denied the rumors, saying, as always, "We do not comment on rumors or speculation. We are always thinking about what is next for our platform, but we don't have anything further to share at this time."
It's rumored that Microsoft is readying a reveal for sometime later this month, or they could be waiting for E3, it's hard to know for sure. But with Sony already announcing the PS4, and the Wii U upon us, the stage seems set for Microsoft to finally open their pie holes already.
