NBC Universal recently acquired DreamWorks Animation, making "How to Train Dragon 3" part of Universal Studios now. The third installment of the animated film still gets to premiere on its original schedule, which is on May 18, 2018.
Not much is being reported lately but director Dean DeBlois, who worked on the first two installments, already teased some of the storylines that fans can expect from "How to Train Your Dragon 3." Back in 2014, DeBlois told Collider that the sequel will feature Hiccup's coming of age. He and his dragon Toothless have become leaders of their respective clans. Both of them will do whatever they can to make sure their respective tribes are in good hands.
Since "How to Train Your Dragon 3" will be based on the book series of the same name by Cressida Cowell, the story will not much be of a spoiler, especially after DeBlois revealed that the upcoming movie will feature the beginning of Cowell's books - in which (Spoiler Alert!) Hiccup is already a grown man and is looking back on the times when dragons still existed. It is implied that Toothless will no longer be around, which also means there will be an emotional ending to the Toothless-Hiccup friendship.
As shared by MoviePilot, the first line of the book reads, "There were Dragons when I was a boy." With part of the plot already revealed, fans might wonder what surprise the movie still has for the audience. The mystery of why the dragons disappeared will be answered and it's what fans should look forward to "How to Train Your Dragon 3."
"How to Train Your Dragon 3" will still see the return of Jay Baruchel to do the voice of Hiccup, America Ferrera as Astrid and Cate Blanchett as Valka. It's still a long wait since the movie will premiere in 2018. Stay tuned to GamenGuide for future updates on the animated film.
